David Hockney: Paintings (Art & Design) Details
From the Publisher Although many will not be familiar with the great artists included in this volume, Caspar David Friedrich, Lovis Corinth, and Max Klinger are well-known names whose works form the core of the permenant collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Liepzig, Germany. The 84 paintings here reproduced in this sumptuously illustrated volume provide a rare opportunity to learn about these masters and their influence, especially between 1840 and 1880, when Germany had a profound impact on artistic life in America. Reviews
I was more than pleasantly surprised by the extremely high quality of the reproductions. The book is split up in six chapters covering the main artistic phases in Hockney`s live and giving a lot of information about his paintings.I find it extremely interesting not just to see Hockney`s work but also to read the details on the creative process leading up to the finished painting. A wonderful book!
